SELL YOUR FIREARM WITHOUT THE HASSLE

Selling a firearm takes more than posting a listing. There are photos to take, buyers to deal with, payments to coordinate, and transfer and shipping rules to follow.

I can handle that work for you. I’ll help set a realistic asking price, describe your firearm accurately, manage the sale, and arrange a lawful transfer. You approve the minimum sale price, and you know the fees up front.

Based in New Hampshire. Consignments are by appointment.

Why consign with me

You can sell a firearm yourself. This is for people who would rather have a licensed dealer handle the details.

  • A careful listing. I inspect the firearm’s condition, take clear photos, write an accurate description, and help set an asking price that fits the market.
  • Less back-and-forth. I handle inquiries, offers and buyer communication, so you’re not spending your evenings answering the same questions.
  • More ways to reach buyers. I sell through my own channels or, with your written authorization, list it on GunBroker for a wider audience.
  • A licensed dealer handling the sale. I coordinate payment, the required records, the transfer, and shipping when it’s needed. Every step is documented from intake through settlement.

How it works

  1. Tell me what you’re selling. Send me the make, model, general condition, what comes with it and your target price. We’ll talk about whether consignment is a good fit and set up an intake appointment.
  2. Agree on the price and terms. The firearm’s condition, asking price, minimum sale price, where it’s listed and the commission all go in a written consignment agreement. I won’t accept an offer below your minimum without your permission.
  3. I do the selling. I prepare the listing, answer buyers, handle offers and coordinate the sale. If you authorize GunBroker, its actual seller fees are passed through at cost.
  4. You get paid. Once the sale is complete and the payment has cleared, I give you an itemized settlement and pay you the sale price less my commission and any agreed expenses. Payout is generally within 10 business days of the completed sale, subject to the agreement.

What it costs

My commission steps down as the sale price goes up.

  • 15% of the first $1,000 of the final sale price
  • 10% of the part above $1,000
  • $50 minimum per firearm

What would my commission be?

Final sale priceMy commissionIf you buy your next gun from me*
$300$50$50
$500$75$50
$1,000$150$75
$2,000$250$125
$3,000$350$175

*You, the same consignor, put some or all of the net proceeds toward a firearm you buy and pay for from me within 30 days after settlement. It halves my commission only, never below $50. Other expenses aren’t discounted. The signed agreement has the full terms.

These are my commission only, not GunBroker fees, approved listing upgrades or other charges. The commission is on the firearm’s sale price, not buyer-paid shipping, handling, taxes or transfer fees.

Selling one to buy the next?

Put the proceeds toward your next firearm and I'll cut my commission in half.

Use your consignment proceeds to buy another firearm from me within 30 days of settlement and my commission drops by 50%, never below $50.

On a $3,000 sale, the $350 commission becomes $175. That’s $175 more toward your next gun.

The new purchase has to be completed and paid for; planning to buy doesn’t count. GunBroker and other third-party charges stay the same.

Other costs

  • GunBroker and other marketplace fees. If you authorize a third-party listing, its actual required seller fees come out of the sale proceeds on top of my commission. A basic GunBroker listing generally has no final-value fee until it sells. Optional paid features cost extra and need your written approval.
  • Shipping and handling. When the gun has to ship, the buyer pays the actual insured shipping plus $15 for packing and handling.
  • Card payments. Any credit-card surcharge is the buyer’s, and only where it’s permitted and disclosed.
  • If it doesn’t sell. No commission. Returning an unsold firearm costs $25. Withdrawing it in the first 30 days costs a separate $25. If you don’t collect it within 30 days of written notice that the agreement has ended, storage may run $15 a month. Getting it back goes through the same dealer paperwork as a sale.

Common questions

Can I set a minimum price? Yes. We agree in writing on an asking price and a minimum sale price, and I won’t sell below your minimum without your approval.

Will my gun be listed on GunBroker? Only if you authorize it. You can choose my own channels only, or add third-party marketplaces. Their actual seller fees apply when they’re used.

Do I owe a commission if it never sells? No. Return processing, early withdrawal, approved listing upgrades or storage can still apply, as the agreement sets out.

How long does consignment last? 90 days to start. After that we can renew the listing, change the price, or arrange a return. I can’t guarantee a sale in any set time.

What if I change my mind and want it back? Tell me and we’ll arrange a return, as long as it hasn’t sold or been committed to an accepted sale. Once a firearm is in a dealer’s inventory, federal return rules apply, including a Form 4473 and a background check where required. Return, early-withdrawal and storage fees are in the agreement.

How quickly do I get paid? I send you an itemized settlement after the sale is complete and the funds clear. The agreement calls for payment within 10 business days after that, though disputes, returns, chargebacks and legal holds can delay it.

Can I put the proceeds toward a different gun from you? Yes. Use some or all of the net proceeds on a firearm you buy and pay for from me within 30 days after settlement and I’ll halve my commission, never below $50. Third-party fees stay the same.

Do you take suppressors or other NFA items? Not under the standard consignment agreement. Ask me whether a separate arrangement is possible.

Can I just bring it by? No. Consignments and intake are by appointment. Get in touch and we’ll set a time before you bring it in.

Thinking about selling one?

Tell me what it is. I’ll tell you what the market looks like and whether consignment makes sense, and go over the fees before you commit.

Every consignment is subject to my acceptance, a signed written agreement, and federal and state law. This page is a summary; the signed agreement controls.
